Hyperfine Field of Positive Muons Trapped at Monovacancies in Iron

Abstract

A muon spin rotation(μSR) experiment was performed on electron irradiated iron. A new spin precession frequency (v 2 = 30 MHz) was found which could be attributed to muons trapped at monovacancies. The hyperfine field of the trapped muons is Bhf = − 0.956 T at 140 K. Between 90 K and 140 K an unusual increase of |Bhf| is observed.
