The Hyperfine Field of the Positive Muons in the Ferromagnetic Transition Metals

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: NATO Conference Series ((SYSC,volume 6))

Abstract

Some basic aspects of the electronic structure around the positive muons in the ferromagnetic transition metals are discussed with the aim of elucidating the mechanism of the muon hyperfine field. The importance of the s-d hybridization is emphasized. An ab initio calculation on the energetics concerning the location of the positive muons in the ferromagnetic iron is also presented.
