Spinodals and Spinodal Mechanisms in M-H Systems

Part of the NATO Conference Series book series (NATOCS, volume 6)

A brief, descriptive, review is given of the physics of spinodal curves and of spinodal mechanisms in general as they occur in various physical systems, e.g., binary alloys, glasses and liquids. The unique features of spinodals in M-H systems are discussed from the point of view of the special nature of the density fluctuations, in the critical point region, for coherent M-H systems. Methods of locating spinodals and detecting spinodal decomposition are reviewed for M-H systems.
