Ultrasonic Attenuation Measurements in Single Crystal PdH.65
Ultrasonic attenuation measurements are reported for single-crystal PdH.65 over the temperature range 80–300 K and the frequency range 10–150 MHz. At 10 MHz the CL and C’ modes show peaks at approximately 190 K while the C44 mode shows a peak at approximately 180 K. These peaks are interpreted as relaxational attenuation due to stress induced ordering of vacancies on the fcc H lattice. The peaks are too broad to be accounted for by a single relaxation process.
