Numerical Study on Flow in Natural Draught Cooling Tower

Abstract

Nuclear reactors or industrial heat exchangers have cooling towers as shown in Figure 1(a). There is a heat exchanger at the bottom of the cooling tower. The air heated by the heat exchanger moves up due to buoyancy, so that natural convection occurs. The physical situation of this flow is very complicated. Thus, we make a simplified model in order to make analysis for this flow easy.
