The accurate analysis of organic (or inorganic) antimonials requires careful control of several important factors. Instrument variables, especially the intensity of the primary radiation, are critical and must be monitored by use of a reliable standard. Tartar emetic, which contains 36.5% antimony and is readily soluble in water, is a convenient standard.
