Local Structure and Distortions in Pure and Doped Y1Ba2Cu3O7−δ: X-ray Absorption Studies

Abstract

The superconducting properties of Y1Ba2Cu3O7−δ (YBCO) are strongly effected by small changes in the structure and composition. To achieve a better understanding of the interactions between the structure of YBCO and its superconducting properties, we have made an extensive local-structure investigation of pure YBCO, both oxygen-rich (y=7−δ≈7) and oxygen-deficient (y=7−δ≈6), and YBCO doped with Co, Fe and Ni, using x-ray absorption spectroscopy.
