Visual Inspection

  • Chapter

Abstract

Optical inspection offers tremendous scope in both manufacturing and process industries. The process of visual inspection of components provides the capability of distinguishing features within the total geometric envelope of the part, and also enables examination for defects on the parts surface. However, camera systems are still very expensive and the resolution to which the system must operate pushes the technology to its limits. Also the data processing to be undertaken requires the analysis of significant volumes of data.
