Abstract
At the last 1985 Geilo meeting, dispersion of tracers in porous media has been suggested1 by our group as a potentially very important tool to characterize the structure of heterogeneous porous media. Since then, many new theoretical and experimental results have been obtained, particularly on dispersion in heterogeneous systems2 and on the influence of dead volumes3, boundary layers4 and recirculation zones5,6. We shall discuss here some experimental measurements obtained in our group in this perspective on two dimensional and three dimensional heterogeneous model media.
