Abstract

Phase transformations taking place in the Earth’s mantle, in particular in a sinking lithospheric slab, have been intensively investigated during the last few years [1–7]. In this paper a mathematical model of a region in which the phase transformation takes place is presented, and the structure of the phase boundary in a one-constituent material is investigated.
