A 6–8 type anvil apparatus is a double-stage pressure-generating system studied first by Kawai and Endo [1], the first stage being composed of 6 anvils and the second of 8 anvils. One corner of each of the 8 cubic anvils is truncated so that when the anvils are assembled an octahedral specimen Chamber is produced.
