Abstract

The final proof of the activation of the kininsystem is the demonstration of the liberation of free kinin into the blood or other biological fluids. The current methods for free kinin determination include rapid denaturation of the blood proteins (including kallikreins, kininogens and kininases), purification of the extracts to eliminate active substances interfering with the assay, concentration of the extracts, and finally the assay for which smooth muscle has mostly been used.
