Topology of the Ground-State Surface of CH4+

Potential-energy surfaces (PES) are used to explain the equilibrium structures and spectra of molecules, as well as chemical reactions between molecules. Improvements in both experimental and theoretical techniques have led to increased interest in detailed studies of polyatomic systems. This in turn has led to a need for understanding the potential-energy surfaces of polyatomic systems.
