Robotics in Construction: State of the Art in the Federal Republic of Germany

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to explain the current trends in the design of construction machines and the use of electronics to control these units. It is based on the information supplied by German manufacturers at the BAUMA Fair in Munich in April 1986. Altogether three systems of considerable interest in the field of robotics are presented:
  1. 1.

    hydraulic excavator equipped with the CAL system from Orenstein & Koppel;

     
  2. 2.

    mast for pumping concrete with four axes and equipped with a controller from Putzmeister;

     
  3. 3.

    mast with a platform for repair work from Ruthmann.
