Part of the Robot Technology book series (RT, volume 6)

Abstract

So far, this book has been about historical research and the algorithmic principles of knowledge-based systems. It has been argued that the principles of AI have led to useful techniques for searching knowledge bases, new logical methods of programming and, ultimately, expert systems that enable the translation of human knowledge into the knowledge base in the computer. In this final part of the book we devote attention to current research and draw conclusions about the impact that this might have on robotics.
