Renal Handling of Oxalate

Abstract

At the 3rd International Symposium on Urolithiasis and Related Clinical Research, Knox stated that research on the renal handling of oxalate did not match the importance of this substance in urolithiasis. Indeed, he noted that the Handbook of Renal Physiology did not even list oxalate in the index. The inability to measure urinary and, in particular, plasma oxalate precisely undoubtedly accounts for this lack of data1.
