Adsorption of RNA Onto AGED Calcium Oxalate Monohydrate (COM)
We studied the interaction of COM and ribonucleic acid (RNA), by adsorbing RNA onto the COM surface and inhibiting crystal growth. The choice of RNA as an adsorbate was two-fold: (i) it is of interest in urolithiasis, and (ii) it is a useful model for the study of adsorption of linear polyelectrolytes because of the existing detailed understanding of its physical chemistry.
