Scientific psychology in the Netherlands was started with F. C. Donders’s reaction-time experiments over 100 years ago. The first Dutch psychological laboratory was established in 1892 by Heymans. Buytendijh, the leader of the so-called Utrecht school, attempted to combine the physiological and psychological approach to human behavior.
