Review of Rotational Structure in Excited Vibrational States of Spherical-Top Molecules

The subject of this review has been a recurring theme through much of the history of molecular spectroscopy, especially in the infrared spectral range. Methane has been the classic prototype molecule in this area of research. Advances in our theoretical understanding of rotational-vibrational spectra of CH4 have followed, to some extent, developments in infrared technology.
