Ion-Current Characteristics in the Electron-Beam Zone-Melting of Molybdenum

Abstract

In this paper we shall be considering phenomena associated with the ionization of gases evolved from a molten zone of metal; we shall indicate a method of measuring the ion current and derive a relationship between the ion current and the quantity of evolved gases in a molybdenum zone-melting installation.
