In order not to disturb the continuity of the results presented, we decided to relegate the description of the apparatus and experimental methods used, to this separate chapter. In this we shall pass fleetingly over generally known methods of polarization measurements, concentrating attention on less widespread methods, and also on the original methods and apparatuses specially developed for solving the problems presented in our investigation.
