Genesis of the Terebrantia
The problem of the origin of the carnivorous (or parasitic, as they are called) Hymenoptera from their invariably phytophagous ancestors is undoubtedly one of cardinal importance to the whole course of the historical development of the order Hymenoptera, both from the theoretical and the practical aspect. Clearly, therefore, whatever results are obtained in the course of its solution must influence the path of subsequent phylogenetic modifications and determine their nature and direction.
