If hydrogen is to be the most important energy medium for transport over long distances, as discussed in the previous chapters, we must find out how to produce it on a massive scale. The cost of the production process we choose will have to be low enough so that the energy from the system will be affordable. Two large-scale methods of preparing hydrogen have been developed. The first is called the cylinder thermal method and the second is called the electrochemical method.
