General Review of Noise Control and Practical Examples

  • John E. K. Foreman

This chapter begins with a general review of noise measurements and noise reduction procedures, together with a discussion of a program for noise control. This is followed by many examples of noise situations and corrections/controls from a publication by Bruel and Kjaer, Naerum, Denmark entitled Noise Control—Principles and Practice, 1st edition, 1982. (Some of these examples appeared in earlier chapters.) This book was adapted from a publication of the Swedish Workers’ Protection Fund, established by national legislation, with the object of making industry and industrial employees aware of safety and environmental questions and to encourage the provision of an improved and safer working environment throughout Swedish industry.
