A Procedure for Building Assessment
Structural integrity is the key to building rehabilitation. Unless the basic structure is sound or can be economically repaired the full or partial demolition should be considered. Under unique circumstances when the structure is of historic importance the building may be eviscerated and an independent structural system erected within the peripheral shell, as was done with the White House in Washington, D.C.
