Automatic Pouring System for Cast Iron

Abstract

An automatic pouring system for cast iron which is applicable to small batch product foundries has been developed by Hitachi, Ltd. of Japan. The key element of the system is a photo-electronic detection of the level of molten iron in the sprue and electro-hydraulic servo control of the pouring level. The development is described in detail in bl]References 1 and 2, and summarized in the following sections.
