Jade in Europe

  • Paul E. Desautels

Abstract

Although the Romans traded with India and the Orient, no remnants of Chinese jade or jade objects whatsoever have been discovered in the Roman ruins or among the relics of Etruscan civilization. Some of the Roman references to emeralds could easily have been to jade, but no evidence exists to support the idea.
