Lightning Injuries, Fatalities, and Public Safety

  • Marvin M. Frydenlund

Abstract

Among certain pagan people, lightning was long accepted as a form of swift and certain punishment by wronged and wrathful gods. Survivors of lightning strikes were shunned as unclean, while the apparently dead were sometimes buried on the spot without benefit of pomp or ceremony.
