Clothing, Gloves, and Wipers

Cleanroom clothing, gloves, and wipers are used by all personnel in cleanrooms. These items are made from both natural and manmade fibers into fabrics with a wide range of designs, weaves, and structures. Cleanroom clothing and gloves are the primary barrier to keep contaminants generated by personnel from being emitted into the cleanroom and depositing upon products. Wipers are used to clean surfaces that may have collected dirt. The importance of all of these items is evident. They must be clean to begin any operations, and they must not generate or pass contaminants when in use. They must be fabricated so that they do not contaminate the cleanroom even if they are damaged in use. Some aspects of use and application are covered here for the materials, design, fabrication, and handling of these products.
