Basic Concepts of Technological Change

Technology is the corpus of knowledge and the set of techniques by which we manipulate and control the physical world to satisfy human wants. Technological change generally focuses on the techniques, their attendant devices, products, and processes, and the effects of these on individuals and society. In this chapter, we briefly introduce some of the basic concepts and vocabulary that are useful in describing and analyzing the dynamics of technological change.
