Abstract
Financial management is the study and practice of monetary decision making within a company. Financial managers are members of a management team responsible for finding funds, managing them, and determining their best use.1 There are many stages during the growth or the contraction of a company where financial decisions determine its success or failure. For example, expansion funds can be obtained from many sources, such as the sale of stocks or bonds, bank loans, and capital equipment leasing. Input into each financial decision comes from members of the management team, which includes groups such as materials/logistics management, engineering, and marketing. However, the financial officer selects the best alternative, evaluating the present and future impact of the decision, and makes a recommendation to the chief executive officer (CEO). The CEO makes the final decision.
