The other day a coaster broke off of my chair. I was looking for a piece of paper that would fold to the 1/2″ size to replace the coaster when I noticed a paragraph in the AAPG Explorer of an interview with William J. Sherry, Sr. Said Sherry: “The Depression was good for geologists. It taught them realism. It seems like the fellows that start during one of these times do better. They’re more daring. Most of the fellows who’ve been through it think it was a darned good experience.”
