Evolution, structure and function of nitrogen-fixing root nodules: Confessions of ignorance

Abstract

In being provocative as requested, I have selected a few aspects from recent developments in nodule science and extended the current state-of-play into some speculations which I hope may be used as testable hypotheses — to be upheld, demolished or modified by the 9th Conference in this series.
