Abstract
Since the introduction of the conventional twist drills about 100 years ago, various drill point geometries, such as the double conic drill, split point drill, racon drill, and helical drills, have been introduced to improve drill performance. Around 1953, a new drill point geometry appeared in Beijing, China, which, in this chapter, is called the Multifacet Drill (MFD). In the subsequent 20 years, more than 20 new types of MFDs have been developed dealing with various workpiece materials and drilling conditions.
