Assessing and Developing Metacognitive Attributes in College Students with Learning Disabilities

In 1981, Roosevelt University established the Learning and Support Services Program (LSSP) to help college students with learning disabilities undertake their education. Typically, many of these students lack the active strategies and skills that are necessary to complete tasks in college courses. Moreover, they do not possess the self-regulating skills or awareness levels involved in thinking and knowledge processes that are essential for survival in college. In short, these students do not have strong metacognitive skills.
