Functional design does not show the ordered structure of concepts and principles characteristic of a subject like physics, partly because it has not been systematically studied, but partly because it is not a reflection of a nature that appears to have immutable laws. Principles are emerging, however, which can provide valuable guidance to the designer, and several of them have been mentioned in the course of this book. In this final chapter they are drawn together and surveyed.
