Abstract
The entoderm appears about the 8th day and rapidly forms the yolk sac. Toward the end of the first month, the process of body cylinder formation divides the yolk sac into two parts:
-
one is extraembryonic (the yolk sac); it regresses early and disappears about the 3rd month;
-
the other is intraembryonic (the primitive gut); it is the origin of the digestive tube and its accessory glands, the liver and pancreas.
