Biological Activity of Antibrain Antibody—An Introduction to Immunoneurology

Abstract

The term “antibrain antibody” used in the title designates any antibody which reacts with brain tissue antigen regardless of the properties of the antibody’s combining groups. Antibrain antibody also refers to different experimental situations in which the whole brain, brain regions, populations of neurons, or neuronal components are employed as antigen to prepare antibrain serum. Since antibrain antibody cannot be precisely defined in terms of its immunochemical specificity, its use in this paper can be justified only by convention.
