The ultimate triumph of the “weakest” force in the universe over matter and space-time is achieved in black holes. The theoretical and mathematical predictions of black holes in 1939 by Oppenheimer and Synder were finally indirectly proven 34 years later by observing a binary star system in Cygnus X-1, where a large companion star becomes a black hole and pulls considerable quantities of material from the companion star.
