Experimental Aspects of Hadron Collider Physics

Abstract

These notes summarise a series of lectures given at the 1990 NATO Advanced Institute on Techniques and Concepts in High Energy Physics. Data on hard parton-parton collisions at hadron colliders are presented, and are compared with expectations from the Standard Model of strong and electroweak interactions. In making these comparisons, an attempt is made to identify existing theoretical and experimental limitations or uncertainties, and to give a perspective of future relevant measurements at existing hadron colliders. Also emphasized is the complementarity of measurements testing the validity of the Standard Model using (e+ e) colliders.
