Abstract

A review of experimental results obtained by UA1 and UA2 before the upgrading of the Proton-Antiproton Collider at CERN is presented. Topics covered in these lectures are the physics of the Intermediate Vector Bosons, heavy-flavour production, B°-B̄° mixing, the search for the top quark, and searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. We give preliminary results from the 1988/89 Collider run at CERN [UA1, upgraded UA2 and improved CERN pp̄ Collider (ACOL)]. The physics potential of the full upgrading is discussed as well. Also, where available, results from the Fermilab Tevatron Collider are quoted. And finally, from the results obtained we infer the possible features of physics at future hadron colliders (LHC and SSC).
