The Meristematic Calli of Maize: A Maintenance System of Tissue Juvenility

Abstract

Meristematic callus is an organized tissue obtained from cauline meristem after culture in medium with the auxin 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, (2,4-D). It is derived from the hypertrophic development of a meristem caused by the action of 2,4-D in a specific phase of its development (Torné et al., 1984; Santos et al., 1984).
