Through a Looking Glass: Swedish Research on Reading Using the TEXTWINDOW System

In recent years, the reading process has become a focus of research in cognitive psychology. Using a variety of computer-aided methods for studying this process on line, researchers in the field have placed the behavioral responses observable during reading under a microscope. A wide range of immediate reactions by readers to text being read has been recorded and analyzed, foremost among them are: various aspects of reading time and eye behavior; the fluency and latency of reading done aloud; and speed and accuracy in executing subsidiary tasks while reading.
