Abstract

Regarding the Ca2+-dependent regulatory mechanism of the smooth muscle and nonmuscle actin-myosin interaction, the myosin-linked regulation based on phosphorylation of myosin by Ca2+- and calmodulindependent myosin light chain kinase and dephosphorylation by myosin phosphatase has been well documented (1–3). Despite the accumulation of several findings (4–7), however, the precise molecular mechanism of the actin-linked regulation is as yet unclear.
