Partition of Algal Cells of Various Strains in Aqueous Two Phase Systems
Green algae belonging to the genus Chlorella/Chlorococcales represents one of the simplest and commonest group of plant organisms. They have been proposed for practical application in agriculture and biotechnology as protein-rich food or feed, for conversion of energy. This genus includes small, more or less spherical cells, lacking in suitable morphological properties useful for distinguishing strains valuable because of their high biotechnological capacity. This has prompted scientists to find useful criteria for characterising and distinguishing the various strains as well as classifying the unicellular green algae.
