Abstract

For a long time, it has been the dreams of radiotherapists and oncologists to have molecules or drugs which could seek and specifically reach and destroy cancer cells. These molecules or drugs could be toxic in several ways:

  • chemically

  • because they are labelled with an appropriate radionuclide

  • because they can be made toxic in the cancer cell

Boron compounds can become toxic through thermal neutron irradiation, causing the 10B(n,α)7Li reaction.
