Hemostasis and Endothelial Disorders in Pre-Diabetes

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 246))

Abstract

Vascular complications represent today the main causes underlying morbidity and mortality in diabetic patients. The role of hemostasis disorders, as well as disturbances in endothelial cell function and hemorheologic abnormalities have been suggested by a great amount of evidence in diabetic microangiopathy and in atherogenesis. The aim of this chapter is to review the abnormalities in hemostasis, endothelial cells function and in hemorheology observed in patient with pre-diabetes.
