Monitoring the Interactions of Environmental Agents by Cell-Dependent Chemiluminescence: Studies with Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
The potential toxic effects of synthetic and naturally occuring substances on human health is of increasing concern. Thus, there is a great deal of interest in the development and application of techniques to monitor the cellular interactions of xenobiotics. The generation of chemiluminescence (CL) represents a potentially powerful probe for examining chemical-cell interactions, especially when it is correlated with other monitors of cellular function or used in conjunction with other analytical techniques.1
