Abstract

The biological aging processes are time-dependent deteriorative changes occurring in all living cells. Several investigators have postulated that these age-related changes are due primarily to alterations in cellular membrane structure and function.1,2 The free radical theory of aging proposed by Harman provides a molecular basis for the possible mechanisms for such ubiquitous phenomena.3
