Abstract
The biochemical and electrophysiological effects of 45 min unilateral MCA occlusion and subsequent recirculation for 3 hours were studied. EEG, steady /DC/ potentials, tissue available O2 was measured during the occlusion of the MCA, during the release of the clip and after recirculation. The regional distribution of pH, ATP, glucose, NADH, K and histological changes were studied in the same animals, freezing the brains in situ at the end of recirculation.
